In!

We're in the house. I'm very tired. Here are the highlights so far:

1. First settlement scheduled at 10am; didn't go through until 3pm (bank wouldn't send the money until they got another day of interest--fuckers). Second settlement scheduled at 12:30, didn't go through until 4pm. The folks we bought the house from? Currently homeless since we couldn't get them the money.

2. Driving the 26' truck, which turned out to be a stick shift, so I had to drive it. Guess what? I'm not qualified.

3. One of our movers hurt his hand so badly that he passed out and an ambulance had to be called.

4. I ran over our neighbors porch bannister with the truck and DEMOLISHED it. They were very nice about it.

5. Our cable/internet guy made a race-based comment to the same neighbor.

6. Frankie peed on a wall within twenty seconds of being in the house.

That's it so far! More to come, I'm sure.

So...fucking...tired...

1.

Glad you're in and home. I'm liking Sarah's comment about doing nothing without drama! Hope the mover guy is alright.

2.

Congratulations on getting into your home. Sorry about all the snafus--but *eventually* they will all be funny old stories about your home;-)

3.

All things considered, WOOHOO!

4.

I hate moving. I can't wait until it's peaceful for you again-- just reading about all this is stressing me out! Lots of hugs!!!

(On a side note, Chris had the babies dancing the Pee-Wee Herman to that tequila song. So now the 4 mo old daughter of a recovering mom will giggle for nothing but the word "Tequila!" yelled just so. Thought you'd appreciate the irony . . .)

5.

Ugh- moving sucks. Hope you get a chance to relax this weekend and enjoy the new digs.

6.

Congratulations on surviving the horror that is moving, and on your new home. How wonderful to be in it!

About the peeing cat... I cannot recommend the product PetClean highly enough. It is an orange-oil based cleaner that makes it pretty easy to remove all cat pee odor. Wee sprtiz and wipe with water, then spritz and wipe with PetClean. If you are interested I will send you a web site.

Good luck unpacking!

7.

Well done and what a cool neighbour to be so understanding.

8.

Sorry it wasn't a smoother move...but you're IN. Woo hoo!

Welcome Home.

9.

Keep going C..........
Keep Going C........

Think that, over and over and over.
Just keep going forward. And smile.
Smile alot, and laugh alot.

These will be really funny stories to look back on once your settled. (Except for the mover-guy? How heavy is your shit?) lol

10.

Yeah! You are in. I thought, there's no way there's a post-- she just moved-- but voila, here you are!

I have to say, as much as I hate moving, it seems like your moving day beat ours hands down for serious shit happening. I only got in a fight with the mother-out-law.

Sorry about the cat too. At least it was the wall. One of ours has taken to regularly peeing on the bed.

Congrats again!

11.

Hurray! Congratulations! I am so so psyched that his has all worked out and that you have that beautiful house!

12.

Wholly Shit! Oh, I saw this cool stuff on TV and thought of you... it's called Urine Gone and it's supposed to get the smell & stain out.

13.

ohhh that CAT!!! How do you put up with it??
Glad you're in, now the fun begins......

14.

Congrats on finally getting into the house! Next year this time, it'll actually be funny =)

And I think more rooms should be round- no corners- just to drive peeing cats crazy!

15.

Glad to hear everything went "smoothly"! OK just kidding. Hope things settle down. We all have our "stories"!

I moved with a broken foot and did not even know it. I permenently damaged my foot.

My friend took her dogs to the house she is building and each peed at least 3 times on the drywall. They don't get to go back until the house is done and they move in.

etc etc etc

16.

Lol, well, at least the house is now broken-in.

17.

Nothing like a good moving challenge! Life after this will seem dull and mediocre....not!
So glad you are in!
And the neighbors probably wanted a new porch bannister, you did them a favor!

18.

Sorry about the banister... at least it will be something to laugh about with them in a few years. Give yourself a break, girl! Oh Frankie... what I wouldn't give to be able to urinate in my new office space.

19.

Okay, I know I shouldn't, but...HAHAHAHA!!!! You gotta admit that's going to be a damned funny story when you're not near-comatose.

20.

I am simultaneously laughing and going omigod and cringing -- I just put my house on the market. Let the games begin.

21.

Congrats on the house!
On the other things.... Eh, sorry.
But just think - Frankie was just christening the place.

22.

I guess Frankie was just telling you how great the new house is. My cat just hid under heavy furniture for three days. Apparently, she lacks Frankie's flair for self-expression. I'm sorry about the truck and the other drama, but it will be funny someday.

23.

Never a dull moment, is there? ;) Congrats on the good stuff.

24.

Ahhhh, moving.

Get some rest now, in your new home.
Sweet dreams!

25.

As someone who moved just three weeks ago, I can totally sympathize. Luckily, we did not have to call any ambulances, and we did not demolish any neighbors' porches, but it sucked. It took the entire day to load our apartment on the two trucks we needed to move all our crap. When we finally got to our new house, in the next state, I walked in to discover that we had no electricity. Our electrician had been there working on the house, upgrading our electricity so that our new central air conditioning actually had a chance of working, and decided that, sinc we were not there by 5:30, we must not be coming, and left without finishing. Problem was, as time went by, there was no light, so the movers could not see what they were doing. The electrician had to come and work on getting the power on, which was not accomplished until the men were sweating bullets, and many boxes had been placed on the wrong floors because they couldn't see. Almost worse was the fact that the house was FILTHY disgusting. We had been having work done before we moved in, and the workmen didn't seem to think it necessary to, oh, you know, FLUSH THE TOILET, or basic things like that. It was repulsive. The movers finally left at 10:30 at night. I actually had to go to work the next day.

The good news is that after three weeks, we are almost completely unpacked. Well, except for our books, but our new built in bookcase should be finished tonight, so we start unloading tomorrow. Other than that, we have less than 10 boxes left. We haven't really hung any pictures on the walls, and most of the windows have no curtains, but it looks like a house. The bad news (for us) is that once the boxes were gone, we realized that most of the rooms have no furniture. And we will be working on this house until we die.

You'll get there. The beginning just plain old sucks. But congratulations! You're in!!!

26.

Glad you're having fun, LOL!
But seriously, I'm so happy that you're finally in the house, and that nightmare is over!

27.

YAY!!! You're in the house!! Mazal Tov and congrats and all that stuff. WTG Frankie ... oy!
Get some rest :)

28.

Congratulations! Wow, I can't believe you are moved in already, that must have been one hell of a whirlwind ride! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story!

29.

Congrats on your new home. Despite all the horrors I'm guessing your thrilled and I am green with envy! :D

30.

Well, that's one way to meet the neighbors! (I can only imagine how mortified you were..)

31.

Fess up, Cecily. You made this up, didn't you?
(Just kidding!) What an adventure. May the moving day's "activities" soon recede to a blur as you enjoy your new house. Congratulations again! YOU DID IT!

32.

Congratulations!

33.

Considered diapers? I've been thinking about them for our Yorkie. :-)

34.

My animals always preferred to shit when we moved somewhere new.

I'm glad to hear that you're in...get some sleep. The boxes will still be there.

35.

Oh man! One thing comes to mind reading this...

Just keep swimming, just keep swiming...

- Dory (Finding Nemo)

Congrats on being IN THERE! :)

Maryann

36.

Hi Cecily-sorry but this is a comment about your 7/8 entry...terror. We didn't get pregnant with our second child for 6 yrs. after our first one. I have weight issues also, and I don't know what if anything this had to do with the difficulty we had conceiving. At my first appt. they did an ultrasound and figured out that I had a HUGE ovarian cyst...HUGE. They did MRI and sent me to a gynecological oncologist because they were worried about cancer. I was told not to tell anyone that I was pregnant because we didn't know if I could keep the baby if it WAS cancer. Guess what, after all of that, we went ahead and had a huge BBQ for Fathers Day, and had our 6 year old son announce that he was going to be a big brother. We decided that if we did lose this babe, our last hope, we would want our loved ones to know about him and grieve him with us. I had a horrid pregnancy complete with daily non stress tests, ultra sounds every week, an amnio which was screwed up and had to be REDONE, and borderline gestational diabetes, ending with bed rest. I had Alex at 36 weeks, he weighed 7 lbs, and the cyst weighed 8 lbs. He is our miracle baby (now 3) and that is why I can tell you to GO FOR IT...You can do it girl!

37.

Congratulations!

I guess Frankie knows it is home as well ;.)

If it makes you feel any better, Holly peed in my work bag, and ruined not only my files, but has buggered my PDA as well.

38.

my dog pees in any new or unfamiliar home w/i 2 minutes, guaranteed.

enjoy your new home!!

39.

brrr...just thinking about moving gives me the shudders! Go you, and congrats!!

40.

Ugh, I hadn't heard about all the settlement dramas - soooooo glad you guys are here now. Can't wait to come visit again when we have more time to walk around and ooh and aah over the new place! Plus I didn't get to see the back yard.

41.

Congrats on the new house!

Regarding your last post, I have an iMac and it was doing the same darn thing a few days ago during bad weather. Hmm. Curiouser and curiouser.

42.

Ugh! Glad it's over for you.

Are you going to complain to the cable company? I think this is one place where you've gotta be right, not happy. Cause neighbors who don't freak over a destroyed porch do not deserve "comments."

43.

Glad you guys are finally in the house. Sorry about the stress. Ditto SusanJ about the asshole cable guy.

44.

So glad that you're moved - despite the many trials and tribulations. God, you make me laugh sooooo much, esp. the mighty pissing cat - grrrrrrrr. I hope this house is the base for many happy and loving times for you all...and less peeing :)
